SAFF WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP – 2010

SAFF Women’s Football Championship will be held in Bangladesh from 12th to 23rd December, 2010.  The Sri Lanka Women National Football Team will participate in this tournament and they will leave on 09th December, 2010. Eight Countries will participate in this tournament which is played in two Groups.  India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Maldives are the other countries participating in this International Tournament.

  WOMEN FOOTBAL EXEL BEAT MALDIVES NATIONAL TEAM

The touring Maldives National team played the first match against Sri Lanka womens national team at kalutara on 5th november 2010

It was a very good game of soccer and anusha dilani and nilani iddawela scored for sri lanka.

In the second game Sri Lanka Womens team played a better brand of soccerto beat by 3 goals to 0 at Baddagana Sport Complex on sunday the 7th november.ishara madushani, erandi kumudumali and hasara dilrangi scored for Sri Lanka womens team

Both matches were controlled by T.G. Deepani Kumari Samarasinghe and K.D.I. Lakmali womens referees devaloped by the referees department of FFSL

  SRI LANKA WOMENS FOOTBALL TEAM  PLAYS  MALDIVES NATIONAL TEAM .
The Maldives Women’s National Team is in Sri Lanka to play 2 Friendly international games .The first match will be played on 5th November at the Kalutara Vernon U. Fernando Stadium and the second match to be played on the 7th November at the FFSL Sports Complex Ground at Baddagana.
Both matches will kick off at 4.00 pm.

The Sri Lankan Women’s team will be captained by Shanika Rajapaksha  who plays for Police Football Team. Sri Lanka Team is coached by Chaminda Stainwall . The team is as follows.

FIFA KICK OFF SOUTH ASIAN AND CENTRAL ASIAN WOMEN's FOOTBALL IN SRI LANKA

   
.......24 partcipants from 12 countries were i Colombo, Sri Lanka.President FFSL Hon. Sarath Weerasekara, Member of Parliament was the chief guest and stressed that Asian Women's had performed better in Football world when  achievements are compared with mens and would be happy to see a team from South Asian and Central Asian region in the Asian womens championship. Also he said that the game will facilitate the social integration of women and will assist women to enjoy no re cultural freedoms in the south Asia.

Ms Belinda Wilson from FIFA said that it is great for Asia to have 3 semi finalist in the FIFA under 17 womens finals  and said that it shows that the womens football in Asia is reaching greater heights in the world game.

Ms. Bo representing AFC also outlined the importance of the seminar and thanked FIFA for the assistance.

FIFA ADO Mr. Chryshantha Perera delivered the welcome address and requested participants to acquire much needed knowledge and apply them for he development of the game..He expressed his gratitude to M. Manilal Fernando FIFA DO for his contributions to develop the game in the region.
