SRI LANKA HOLDS Tajikistan

It was a good game right through and the Sri Lankan footballers played a good game. Specially the attacking style of play adopted in the last 25-30 minutes saw many good moves towards Tajikistan goal area.

Sri Lanka went ahead with a well directed penalty taken by M. Safraz at the 12th minute of the game .It was Safraz who earned the penalty him self when he was brought down by a last defence in the box where FIFA referee Dilan Perera had no second thought to issue a Yellow and award the penalty.

Sri Lanka led at the lemons 1-0.

At the resumption in the 56th minute Tajikistan drew with a spot kick taken from over 40 yard distance which totally beat Sri lankan custodian Asanka Viraj to hit the right corner of the net. The kicker Robimoy Ibragin reminded the spectators of the ‘Roberto Carlos” direct hits and was dangerous whenever he had an opportunity to shoot at the goal.

Soon after the goal Tajis started attacking which resulted in them netting the second goal at 73rd minute through a long range shot by  Vosiev Dilshad. The Sri Lankan custodian should have avoided the goal if he was in the correct position. The goal keeper saved 2 sertain goal scoring shops to his credit during the second half of the game. In the 80th minute M Zain made use of his run and displaced the Tajikistan goalkeeper to net the second goal to equalise the score to 2-2.
