FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

Allisland Under 15 Champs Hameed Al Husain…

UNDER 15 All ISLAND INTER SCHOOLS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT HELD ON 08th to 10th AUGUST 2007 AT PEOPLE’S PARK - AMBALANGODA.

The above Under 15 Inter schools Football tournament was held at Ambalangoda on 8th to 10th 2007. where 369 schools took part at this preliminary round. iN the total tournament there were 7380 players participated and Nineteen (19) teams with 380 players were involved in the final round tournament.. Teams from, Manner , Ampara, Trincomalee were participated. Jaffna and Batticaloa teams not participate due to unavoidable circumstances. The Chief Guest Mr. M.W. Aruna Pradeep Mayor of Ambalangoda Municipal Council. while Mr. Upali Silva, Secretary of School Association was the chief guest at the final and distributed awards.

It is very much appreciated that our Schools coaches and Coordinators have done a tremendous hard work to trained good technique skills, team work, fair play and bring these teams for the above festival and safely back to their parents. We express our gratitude for the Principals of these schools and parents for permitting these children to participate in this festival.

The twenty ( 19 ) finalists were selected from Island wide,The Hameed Al Husseinie College emerged champions in the tournament and they were awarded with a champion trophy, Medals, certificates and , while the runner up Gampola Zahira College team was presented Runner up trophy , Medals and certificates ,final match score (2-1.) Third place Negombo Al Hilal College beat Anuradhapura St. Joseph’s College score ( 4-0 ) and they were awarded Special Cup and Certificate.

On the 1st day penalty shoot out competition was introduced to improve the technique and accuracy of kicking to build up confidence . This gave a very high impact on the Gampola Zahira College players who won the championship. Players ware awarded set of playing kits. The following participants excelled in the above tournament.

A ward of thanks goes to Mr. Idunil Ediriwickramasoriya the area Coordinator and the Match officials for their untiring efforts to bring this tournament a success.
