FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

AFC appointment

After his appointment to the selection panel he was assigned to do the selection of referees in Bahrain, India and Turkmenistan.

Further we are proud of his recent appointment as a member of organising committee for AFC President’s Cup & AFC Challenge Cup. From 2007 to 2011

We are Proud that the Asian Football Confederation has selected
M.Muhiseen Ariff J.P, Director Referees, to serve in the Asian Referees
Selection Panel to select International Referees to FIFA.

He is in charge of South & Central Region but still he will be
Assigned to other region too.

Referees from Sri Lanka Football Federation has achieved a prominent position in the AFC elite group & officiating in all major tournaments carried out by AFC. Since Mr. M. Muhiseen Ariff’s taking office as the Director Referees at Sri Lanka Football Federation has led to improvement in our referees’ standards.

All Development Programmes for Referees Men /Women and Match appointments for Sri Lanka Football Federation tournaments & Leagues tournaments is being handled by the Director of Referees, assisted by Mr. H.K Gnanesena & M/s Nilusha Damayanthi under the guidance of the Referees Committee.

Women referees at the seminar
A special woman referees’ seminar was conducted on the 17th of June 2006,
20 referees participated.

Following seminars and course were conducted by M/s M.Muhiseen Ariff, Mr. Sunil Seneweera, Mr. A.M. Yapa & MR. Nimal Wickeramatunga in order to keep the knowledge of our match officials up-dated on the laws of the game and its amendments.

The other courses / Seminars conducted by the Referees’ Department under the guidance of the referees committee were;

• FIFA/ Class 1 Referees Seminar: 28th & 29th January 2006 at FFSL – 45 participants
• Elite Referees Seminar: 25th & 26th February 2006 at Beddagana - 40 participants
• New Fitness Test : 11th March 2006 at the FFSL – 100 participants
• Women Referees Seminar: 26th March 2006 at FFSL - 30 participants
• Referees Seminar: 29th & 30th April 2006 at FFSL - 45 participants
• Referees Seminar: 21st & 22nd May 2006 at FFSL - 30 participants
• Women Referees Seminar: 17th June 2006 at FFSL - 30 participants
• Match Coordinators Seminar: 22nd July 2006 - 25 participants
• Elite Referees Seminar: 29th & 30th July 2006 at FFSL - 47 participants
• Seminar for AFC‘C’ Licence Coaches: 20th September 2006 - 21 participants
• Seminar for the North and East sports officers attached to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports: 21st November 2006 at Beddagana 25 participants

REGIONAL REFEREES SEMINARS

Conducted a Regional two day Seminar for the Galle Football League referees, held on 11th – 12th February 2006, at the U.C. auditorium & Rahula Maha Vidiyalaya Grounds, 35 referees participated

Conducted a Regional two day Seminar for the Kalutara Football League referees, held on 17th – 18th June 2006, at the Vernon Fernando Football Stadium auditorium 40 referees participated

Conducted a Regional two day Seminar for the Badulla Football League referees, held on 17th – 18th October 2006, at the U.C. auditorium & Vincent Dias Stadium, 47 referees participated

The Annual FIFA Referees & Assistant Referees Physical Fitness Theory/Medical/English & Viva, Examination was held on the 10th September 2006, at the FFSL Reid avenue grounds – for 2007 FIFA panel, 16 Class one referees participated, out of sixteen referees.



Five referees and seven assistant referees were nominated to the 2007 FIFA panel.

The All Island (U/13) Inter School Boys/Girl’s Final round championship was held on 4th-6th November 2006, at the Police Park Grounds, Bambalapitiya.

The main feature of the above tournament was our young Men/ Women referees refereed the entire matches and it was a great success.

Annual referees examination was held on 4th December 2006 for the Class 1 Class 2 and Class 3

178 candidates from all over the island sat for the Annual referees examination in 3 languages i.e. Sinhala, Tamil & English medium

No of Candidates sat for the Class 1 - 07, in Sinhala and English medium

No of Candidates sat for the Class 11- 25, in Sinhala, Tamil and English medium

No of Candidates sat for the Class 111-146, in Sinhala, Tamil and English medium

Out of the 178 referees 25 women referees took part in the new test

.

Women referees & Men referees are at the fitness test starting point

.

The participant are listening to the instruction by the examiners

They were tested in the new cooper, theory and viva and the Football Federation of Sri Lanka will release the examination result by mid January 2007.
