FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

UNDER 13 INTER SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT


The under 13 All Island Inter School Soccer Championship Tournament was held from February 20th to 22nd at the Kalutara Town Hall Grounds. Zahira College - Gampola, defeated St. Thomas College - Matara by 4 goals to 2 and emerged Champions.

Altogether 387 school teams participated at this tournament, of which only 16 teams qualified for the final round. Zahira College-Gampola , St. Thomas College- Matara, Zahira College Akurana and Al- Humesera College qualified for the semifinals.

Eranda Prasad of Hewavitharana Vidyalaya was adjudged the best player of the tournament. The best goal keeper was Dinil Nadipa of St. Thomas College Matara with 8 goals, who received the award for the highest scorer of the tournament.

FFSL President DIG Gamini Randeni, CEO Chrisantha Perera along with Kalutara Football League President Sepala and Secretary Sali graced the occasion. President of Schools Football Association Rev. Bro. Granville Perera, Secretary Upali Silva, Vice President M. Z. Farook, President Sri Lanka Youth Football Association - Squad. Leader Nandana Abeyratne were among the guests of honour. The winners and runners - up were presented with medals and certificates, while all teams that participated at the final round were presented with Footballs by courtesy of Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
