FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany
Visit Football Federation

Mr. Jürgen Weerth Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka visited Football Federation on 15 th December. Ambassador inspected the facilities available for Football payers. He expressed his appreciation for the efficient administration of Football Federation of Sri Lanka and Development office.

The German Ambassador handed over Sports Equipment to the Federation President as a good will gesture for the developmenmt of the game.

Ambassador Mr. Jürgen Weerth was a member of Project Group "Football World Championship" (2003-2004) and at present attached to Federal Foreign Office. Ambassador expressed his interest in developing Football programme to promote peace and harmony through Football.

Mr. Chrysantha Perera, CEO - Sri Lanka Football Federation delivered the welcome speech.

Mr. Manilal Fernando Chairman, Management Committee (Vice President of Asian Football Confederation) delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Fernando expressed his gratitude for Ambassador kind remarks on Football Federation and Development office Activities.
