FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

SRI LANKA ENTERS THE FINAL ROUND OF AFC CHELLENGE CUP


The National team led by Chatura Maduranghe had a success tour by being the Group Leaders of the AFC Chellenge Cup 2008 in Chinese Taipei when they beat Guam by 5 -1 ,Pakistan by 7 - 1 and drew with the host Chinese Taipei 2 - 2 . Our main striker Kasun Jayasuriya scored 6 goals to be the highest goal scorer in the group. Chatura 2 ,Raumy 2 . Channa 3 , M.Nafas 1 added the goals tally to be 14 in 3 matches and Sri Lanka recorded biggest ever victory in the international tournament by beating Pakistan 7 - 1.

Coach Jang Jung together with his assistants Balendra Anthoney and D.Chandrasiri praised the team and mentioned that the team work with a good combination in the front line was paving results to be high and a better goal averages.

Now Sri Lanka team will meet the rest of the group champions [ 4 including Sri Lanka] and India, Turkministan, DPR Korea and Myanmar where 8 countries will battle out to be AFC Challenge Champion in India.
