
The Kit Premier League which commenced few months ago will see the its second round kick off on November 11 with two matches on the card. The following day too there will be two games played at different venues. The tournament is expected to come to a complete closure on January 14.
The secod stage of Segment 'B' of the same championship which is competed by eight teams have already started as the first round games were completed as scheduled. These details were disclosed at a press briefing held on Thursday at the Football House in the Presence of the sponsors Dialog GSM.
At the briefing it was stated that already in Segment 'A' 34 matches out of 36 have been completed, the balance two matches are scheduled to be played this week end at the Sugathadasa stadium. These two games had to be postponed mainly due to bad weather conditions and not for any other reasons said the Chairman of the Tournament Committee G. Randeni.
Nushad Perera, General Manager Pomotions and Marketing Dialog GSM addressing the media said that his company is highly satisfied with the progress made by the soccer players in the past three years. That was the reason why Dialog decided to continue with sponsorship for a further period of three years. It has become a duty of the company to serve the people at large. Adding further he assured that Dialog will be with soccer's partner in the future too.
Chirantha de Soysa, Manager Promotions and Sports said that soccer in Sri Lanka has reached a considerable improvement in the past few years with large a sponsorship worth Rs.20 million pumped in to the game. The spectator interest too has shown a steady increase. The Publicity campaign carried out by FFSL and the sponsors have made this possible.
In the future too there will be more publicity campaigns to educate the masses.

From the second stage onwards the Federation has decided along with Sponsor to have a competition to attract more spectator interest.
There will be coupons appearing in daily news papers to vote the Best Team and the Best Player. The general public can vote for their favourite team and the favourite player through SMS without any cost said de Soysa.
Management Committee Chairman, Manilal Fernando addressing the newsmen informed that in the past it was the teams that received all awards.
The present set up has changed drastically and there will be more awards on offer. The Mediamen too are to receive special awards for their work towards the promotion of the sport soccer.
He thanked the sponsors for their unstinted support extended during the past years and made a special request to do few changes at the final awards ceremony which is planned to be staged on a grand scale in mid February.
Ratnam Sports Club heads the Kit Premier League Soccer Championship standings with 20 points after the completion of their first round matches.
From a total of eight games Ratnam has won six and drawn two and managed to stay unbeaten in round one.
They are closely followed by last years Kit Premier League Champs Negombo Youth Sports Club. Ratnam SC in their final game in the first round game went on a goal spree to score seven goals against Blue Star Sports Club which occupies the third slot in the standings.
Negombo Youth SC the last year's Champs of this championship lies second behind Ratnam who has a tally of 17 points under their belt.
Negombo team is the only other team with a clean record in round one.
Negombo Youth's final game against Blue Star SC this Saturday and a win could put them along with the leaders Ratnam SC. Still Ratnam will occupy the top slot with their high goal average.
There will not be changes seen even after these two games.
Saunders SC placed at fourth spot will have to be there even if a win is achieved by them as they have a tally of only 11 points. Saunders are sure to make a strong comeback in round two to pose a big threat to the three top teams who are on the run for the championship.
Kandy York SC and Renown SC lies right at the bottom of the table with registering only one win each from eight and seven games which has given them 5 and 4 points respectively.
