FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

An Asian At The World Cup Final…

 

The Media and Communications Director of the Football Federation Mr. Rukmal Perera has been appointed by FIFA the worlds Football Governing Body as a FIFA MEDIA OFFICER for the World No 1 Sporting Event the FIFA WORLD CUP 2006from the 9th June to 9th July in Germany.

Rukmal is the only Media official from Asia to have been appointed to be a Media Officer for the World Cup Finals to be held in Berlin ,Germany. He was trained in Switzerland and Germany prior to the Finals.

Rukmal is an Old Boy and a Soccer Colours man of De Mazenod College, Kandana.

There will be 15,000 Press, Radio and TV media personnel who have received accreditations for the FIFA world cup 2006 which will be covered in 207 countries to the accumulated audiences over 40 Billion. There will be 24 TV camera positions in Stadiums for live TV coverage. The Last world cup 2002 had coverage of 41,000 hours of TV around the globe during world cup period.
