FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

FIFA workshop on ‘Comm Unity’ …..

Hon. Jeevan Kumaratunga, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs ceremonially inaugurated the FIFA workshop on ‘Comm-Unity’ at Football Federation Sri Lanka. Hon. Sreepathi Sooriyaarachi - Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs was present at the event.

Mr.V.Manilal Fernando (Chairman Management Committee – FFSL / Development Officer, Colombo) said that the workshop will be conducted by FIFA representatives with co-ordination of Goal Development Office, Colombo. Further he stated that this is the fist time in history of sports in Sri Lanka a workshop in this magnitude has been planned.

Following delegation form FIFA has arrived in Sri Lanka for the conduct of the workshop.
