FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

Sri Lankan youth held the Strongly Built Aussies for the first 45 minutes and then in the second half lost their space gradually to the Aussi soccer craftsmanship and power pack and went down to 4-0 .
The Australian youth team advanced to the second round. Tony Heafield scored 3 goals in the 2 matches he played in Colombo.

The High Commissioner of the Australia in Sri Lanka Dr. Greg French was the chief guest for this match.

Shrestha Raja of Nepal controlled the game.
