FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

Sri Lanka Score 2:1 against Turkmenistan


24 Feb 2006: Colombo, Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan stuttered the game with the offensive type of football and went in the third minute with Migara Ranasinghe scoring first goal for the host.
Both sides had 2 to 3 opportunities to score before they went on half time. But the strikers fail to find the net and the score remain 1:0 for Sri Lanka at the lemons.

On the second half at sixty second minute Sapargylyjov Nursahat equaled for Turkmenistan. The game became wide open and both sides went in for attacking style of football which kept the spectators entertained. In sixty seventh minute Sri Lanka went ahead off corner kick well headed to the net by Mudusha Peiris.

At the end match ended in Sri Lanka leading 2:1
At next match host Sri Lanka will meet Australia on 26th February at 4:00 pm at the Sugathadasa International Stadium, Colombo Sri Lanka. This match will be a deciding   match as the winner will advance to second round.
