A LANDMARK IN SRI LANKA
FOOTBALL.
It was a dream come true to
the football players in Sri Lanka when they received
the grant of Rs. 6.28 mill ( approx. ) from the Government
of Japan in August last year, under its Grassroot
Cultural Grant Aid program. As agreed by both parties
the grant was utilized to purchase the much needed
sports , fitness & audio - visual equipment for
the recently constructed National Training Center
at Beddgana.
The official handing over of the equipment took place
on 30th March at this venue in the presence of His
Excellency Akio Suda, Ambassador of Japan., First
Secretary Hidaeki Matsuo and officials of the FFSL,
Mr. Manilal Fernando Chairman Management Committee,
President DIG Gamini Randeni CEO Chrysantha Perera
& other's of FFSL.
At a time when Football is gradually gaining its due
place in the sports arena of Sri Lanka, this sure
could be a boon to our up and coming players to enhance
their skills and reach greater heights at international
level . We wish to express our sincere gratitude again
to the Government of Japan and all those who supported
this worthy cause.
