FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

National Team Selections

After the Disastrous perormence at the recently concluded
SAFF Championship the FFSL mangement Committe and the Ex.co headed by Mr. Manilal Fernando decided to disbanned the National team and called fresh trails to infuse young blood to meet the challenges with a short term and long term stretegy.

Technical Director PD Sirisena , Technical Adviser PK Abesinghe, National Coach Sampath Perera ,National Coaching Advicer M.Zeinalabdeen together with the Selection committee was there for the 1st Trail which was conducted on the 7th where 81 Foofball players representing Clubs and leagues who are mostly under 23
who will also will represent Sri Lanka for the SAARC tournament to be held in Sri Lanka later this year and AFC
Challenge cup to be held in Nepal in March 2006.

There were several media personal from electronic and press to cover this FFSL drive and MILO was the energy provider for the event.
