Blue Stars , with a crucial
win over Victory FC at the Kalutara Esplanade amidst
a huge crowd became the winners of the Dialog GSM
Premier League Football title.
They sealed the title in the first half itself scoring
2 goals through M.M.M. Ifran and M.A.M. Farzeen. There
was no scoring in the second half and with their victory,
the Kalutara Club became the latest champions in the
countrys most prestigious Football Tournament.
Blue Stars collected the Dialog GSM Premier League
Champions Trophy and Rs. 500,000/= prize money and
a further sum of Rs. 500,000/= from Mr. Manilal Fernando
as a token of appreciation and encouragement for the
Blue Star's achievement. Runners-up Ratnams SC too
received Rs.250,000/= from the sponsors. Negombo Youth
SC who were Champions last year were placed third
in this tournament.

STARS TO WIN THE DIALOG GSM CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
FFSL organized a special
Champion of Champions Tournament under the sponsorship
of Dialog GSM for the 4 teams that secured the first
places in the recently concluded Premier League Tournament
namely Blue Star SC, Ratnam SC, Negombo Youth SC,and
Air Force SC.
Blue Star secured the first goal in the 22nd minute
through
M Fowzan and just10 minutes before the final whistle
Ratnam SC replied with an equalizer, when former national
star Mohamed Amanulla scored a goal. Ratnams took
advantage of the penalty shootout scoring 5-3 goals
to clinch the "Dialog GSM Champion of Champions"
trophy and Rs. 250,000/= prize money, while the runners-up,
Blue Star's received Rs. 100,000/=.
Dialog GSM Marketing Manager MR. Nishantha Wickramaratne
was the chief guest while former Minister of Commerce
& Consumer Affairs
Hon: Ravi Karunanayake was the guest of honour. President
FFSL, DIG Gamini Randeni and Gen. Secretary Sunil
Seneweera, CEO Chrysantha Perera and a large crowd
was present on this occasion.
