FFSL has been very active in its various regions assisting victims of the tragedy which happened on 26 December 2004. Among the efforts so far done are the setting up of a relief centre and the donation of equipment, including footballs as well as household equipment.

Captain Chatura confidence ...... The much awaited SAFF championship will be kicked off in Male on the 3rd June and on the 4th June it eill be kicked off in Colombo venue . The FFSL has finalised all arrengement to host the tournament and all matched will be on Live in the Sri Lanka Rupavahini channel . The National Team is very confident and undergoing residential training after their sucessful tour in the AFC Challenge cup where they trounced last years SAG champions Pakistan by 7 goals and have advanced to the final round to be played end July....
