| Our Federation had been affiliated
to FIFA since 1950. Our parent body had extended to us
their fullest financial assistance. We received the annual
grant of US$ 2,50,000.00 from their Financial Assistance
Programme which was utilized for our development programmes
in youth, technical, competition, refereeing media/marketing
and maintaining of four National Pools.
Goal
Project
 The
'Goal Project' was initiated by FIFA President Joseph
S. Blatter in 2000, which heralded a new era as this
project offers tailor made programmes to suit individual
National Associations needs and then implemented by
FIFA experts in close co-operation with the respective
National Associations. The Goal Bureau is chaired by
Mr. Mohammed Bin Hammam who is also a FIFA Member and
Chairman of the FIFA Finance Committee.
FIFA
had appointed Mr. Manilal Fernando as the Development
Officer Colombo who is in charge of the projects of
16 National Associations in Asia. He also serves in
the FIFA Players Status Committee.
Mr. Blatter was
very satisfied with the results of these projects and
stated -' from the very first day of my Presidency,
I have strived to support our 204 National Associations
by providing them with what they need. It was also vital
that our members profit from our sport's development
and FIFA's ever increasing income'.
We are really indebted to the FIFA President Mr. Blatter,
The Chairman and Members of the Goal Bureau and the
Goal Management Team for the financial assistance provided
for our projects.
